Using the latest technology in resins coatings, TXT 2K is a High Solid Polyurethane consisting of a Part A + Part B component which when combined gives a chemical reaction making this coating go HARD. TXT 2K has outstanding performance in adhesion and UV holdout.
This coating was locally designed and developed to beat the competitors and perform in Australia’s harsh environment. What’s better is we manufacture it right here Down Under, so you can be assured its brewed fresh!
TXT 2K is ideal for under carriages, wheels houses, utility tubs, tool boxes, fender flares, caravans, trailers, chassis, industrial uses and entire exteriors if your feeling up to it.
TXT 2K is a 2-Part paint system which comes ready to mix with paint and catalyst. Available in Black and Tintable versions the coating is thick and will give you a neat texture coating which is forgiving in covering a range or surfaces. The paint can be thinned down by adding TXT 2K reducer which will allow the coating to be applied by a conventional gravity feed or pot style gun. We suggest a paint gun with a tip size between 2.0 – 3.0mm, doing this will allow you to achieve a finer texture or close to smooth finish.

SURFACE PREPARATION
Bare metal, aluminum and galvanized steel - abrade with a minimum 80-180P sandpaper. Clean surface with solvent based wax and grease remover or isopropanol, ensuring surface is free from dust, grease, oils and contaminants.
TXT Coating 2K can be applied direct to metal however, for best corrosion protection we suggest using a suitable primer such as etch or epoxy direct to metal then applying TXT Coating 2K.
If allowing primer to fully cure, you will need to treat this as a cured painted surface and abrade the primer to ensure maximum adhesion.
Rigid Plastic / Fiberglass - abrade with a minimum 80-180P sandpaper. Clean surface with solvent based wax and grease remover or isopropanol, ensuring surface is free from dust, grease, oil and contaminants. TXT 2K can be applied direct to Rigid plastic /fiberglass surfaces.
Flexible plastics - abrade with a minimum 180-240P sandpaper, clean surface with solvent based wax and grease remover or isopropanol. We recommend using a plastic adhesion promoter before applying TXT 2K coating to ensure best adhesion.
Wood – TXT 2K can be applied directly to wood, avoid using liquid solvents to clean, make sure wood is dry and free from dust and contaminants.
TINTING
Add 2K Colour or Basecoat tinter to TXT Coating 2K Tintable, we recommend up to 20% by volume.
Compatible with urethane and acrylic solid colour and mixed acrylic base coats (metallics).
IMPORTANT TXT Coating 2K can NOT be mixed with water based, polyester or enamel paints.
Due to opaque base of TXT 2K Tintable along with the textured nature of the paint, "exact colour" matches are unrealistic to manufacturers top coat finishes.
MIXING
By Volume 4:1 (Part A + 2K Solvent base coat = 4 parts : Part B = 1 part)
example: (Part A 720ml + 2K Base Coat 80ml) 800ml total : Part B 200ml
By Weight: Part A = 100 (Part A 80g + 2K Base Coat 20g)
Part B = 18.6
THINNING
TXT 2K can be thinned to achieve a fine texture by using TXT 2K Reducer, we do not recommend exceeding 20% reducer by volume.
POT LIFE
TXT 2K is activated when Part A and B are mixed, take note of the table below for gel times. We suggest users activate 1 x bottle at a time to
reduce risk of coating gelling before application.

IMPORTANT: Test gun operation and air supply before attaching spray gun to coating bottle.
1. Underbody Schutz gun (suction feed): Designed to screw directly to the TXT coating tin, use with a minimum 4mm tip.
Air pressure – 50-100psi (3.45 –6.9 bar) Higher pressure will give a finer texture, air pressure should be tested before application to achieve desired result.
Spray Distance – 20-25cm (8-10inches)
Application – Spray in an even overlapping pattern, apply a minimum of 2 coats with flash time between coats.
Coat 1 – Apply even coverage, allowing flash off between coats 25mins @ 25°C (in colder conditions increase time frame between coats)
Coat 2 – Apply even coverage, If spray pattern is visual on completion of final coat simply increase spray distance to 45-60cm and lightly
spray over the surface with 45° passes to sprinkle texture and even out the coating, repeat this until the desired finish is achieved.
2. HVLP Conventional Spray gun (suction or gravity feed): For larger surfaces where fan adjustability is required or when creating a finer texture a conventional spray gun can be used, we recommend using a 2.5mm tip.
Fine Texture - Add 10% reducer by volume after mixing Part A and B.
Smooth/Super Fine Texture - Add 20% reducer to volume after mixing Part A and B.
Spray Distance – 20-25cm (8-10inches)
Application – Adjust air pressure, paint volume and fan width to achieve desired texture. Spray in an even overlapping pattern, apply a minimum of 2 coats with flash time between coats.
Coat 1 – Apply even wet coat, allowing flash off between coats 25mins @ 25°C (in colder conditions increase time frame between coats)
Coat 2 (Fine texture) – Build desired texture by reducing air pressure and controlling paint volume with needle setting. Even sprinkle texture with multiple drop coats.
Coat 2 (Super Fine texture) – Apply wet coat in even overlapping pattern. Apply 3rd coat if desired.
DRY FILM BUILD (theoretical)
1 x Coat = 100µm, 4.0mils (0.1mm)
2 x Coats = 200µm, 8.0mils (0.2mm)
DRY TIME
Touch dry in 6hrs @25°C
Hard dry overnight
Force dry at 60°C for 60 minutes.
COVERAGE
Approx. 3.5m2/L , tested with application by schutz gun at 70PSI
CLEAN UP
Clean equipment with solvent based gun wash, acetone or thinners.
STORAGE
Keep in a well-ventilated area at room temperature away from direct sunlight.
